San
Jose's Jupiter Sun are sure to cheer you up any disenchanted
Ride Fan. Listening to the dozen songs here (seven new, five
from their first Slumblerland EP), you'll hear hints of The Boo
Radleys, early Stone Roses, and 60's pop bands galore.
Singer/guitarist Matt Murdock effortlessly strings together buzz saw
guitar and beautiful jangly melodies, never keeping the same guitar
sound long enough to pigeonhole their songs. While the older
material is strong, to say the least, the newer ones are outstandingly
and clearly demonstrates the bands growth. "Atmosphere" will undoubtedly
appeal to any fan of American indie pop or British 60's retro bands. Completists can find an
alternative version of "Headlight Beam Reaction" on the must
have Slumberland compilation "Why Popstars Can't Dance."
