JUPITER
SUN
Atmosphere/Parasol: "Jupiter Sun has a way of
capturing a contemplative mood and shaping it into songs that evoke
reflection. With subtle resemblance to the Trash Can Sinatras and Toad the Wet Sprocket,
Jupiter Sun is the stuff that introspection is made of. The songs are as light as
afternoon sunshine; drummer Ollie Moore establishes tempos that bounce like shadows
and Matt Murdock’s soothing voice never rises above fluid placidity. “Supernova,”
the last track of the 12-song album, has a solid rock foundation and a strong guitar
solo that keeps the listener attentive during the eight-minute song. Jupiter Sun doesn’t
reserve quality guitar playing for solos, however. The album’s opening track, “Thoughts,”
features a roaming, melodic guitar line that gives the song a pleasing complexity.
